Buying an ASIC miner in Europe: the 2026 guide

por Happy Mining

Buying an ASIC miner in Europe has nothing to do with 2021 any more. Machines are more efficient and prices have fallen, but European electricity is still expensive and the buying traps are still there: direct imports from Asia, forgotten customs fees, no warranty, "new" machines that have already mined. Here is the method we use at Happy Mining to choose and sell ASICs, and the one you can follow to buy with confidence.

1. Buy in Europe or import directly?

An ASIC bought from a manufacturer or an Asian reseller is listed without tax. On arrival in Europe you add your country's VAT (19 to 25 %), customs clearance fees, sometimes import duty, and two to six weeks of waiting. If it fails, the return trip to China is at your expense.

An ASIC bought from a European reseller is listed in euros, VAT included for private buyers (or with a deductible VAT invoice for companies), delivered within days from stock in Europe, and the warranty is handled by someone local. At Happy Mining every machine is unpacked, powered on and hash-tested before it ships: you receive a machine that has run, not a sealed box whose condition nobody knows.

2. Start with your electricity price

It is the only number that really matters. In Germany, Belgium or the Netherlands, residential power often exceeds 0.30 €/kWh. At that rate only a very efficient ASIC (under 16 J/TH for Bitcoin) stays profitable, and with a thin margin. In Spain, in France with the right contract, or with solar surplus, the picture is much better.

Before looking at a machine's price, enter its hashrate, its power draw and your tariff in our profitability calculator. If the result is negative at your rate, the machine is not for you, whatever it costs. Two alternatives: a dedicated off-peak tariff, or hosting your ASIC in the USA, where we run it for you at a much lower electricity cost.

3. Efficiency before power

Two Antminer S21 Pro are not worth one S21 XP if your electricity is expensive: the most efficient machine (lowest J/TH) is the one that best survives rising difficulty and falling prices. For Bitcoin in 2026 the benchmarks are simple: under 16 J/TH for a new machine, 13.5 J/TH for the top of the range (S21 XP), 12 J/TH for hydro versions. Above 20 J/TH (S19 and the previous generation) you need very cheap power.

4. Noise, heat, wiring: the physical constraints

  • Noise: an air-cooled ASIC produces 75 dB, a vacuum cleaner running non-stop. It goes in a garage, a workshop or a soundproof box, never in a living room. Hydro versions (50 dB) and home miners (Avalon Nano 3S, Bitaxe) are the only quiet options.
  • Electricity: above 3 kW, plan a dedicated 16 A or 20 A circuit, or three-phase power for several machines. An S21 151 TH (2642 W) runs on a standard 16 A socket; an S21 Pro (3500 W) needs its own line.
  • Heat: an ASIC returns all of its consumption as heat. 3.5 kW heats a 60 m² workshop in winter; in summer that air has to be extracted.

5. Which machine for which profile?

6. What a serious offer must include

A price in euros including VAT or with VAT clearly stated; a precise delivery time; a manufacturer warranty handled in Europe; a machine tested before shipping; after-sales support reachable by phone and e-mail. If one of these is missing, the low price will be paid later.

We deliver across the European Union from France, with an invoice, a test before shipping and the manufacturer warranty. Browse all our ASICs or contact us for advice matched to your electricity tariff.
