Timelapse build: open BTC-S37 rig with GTX 1660 Super

by Romain Schlick

What does building a mining rig look like, from an empty frame to a fully assembled machine? In this short 2022 video (in French), we build an open-frame rig with GTX 1660 Super graphics cards on a BTC-S37 motherboard, sped up. There is very little talking: we show you the whole build in a few minutes, set to music.

The rig: BTC-S37 motherboard and GTX 1660 Super cards

  • Motherboard: a BTC-S37, designed to take eight graphics cards;
  • Graphics cards: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super. Not having eight to hand, we fit seven, with the eighth to be added later;
  • Frame: an open frame, which leaves the cards in the open air.

A timelapse build

After a short introduction, we switch to timelapse: the whole assembly of the rig plays out at high speed, without commentary, over background music. It is a handy format for getting an overall idea of the build before starting your own, but it does not go into settings or software configuration.

Our detailed videos on the BTC-S37

For step-by-step explanations, we have made other videos about this type of rig: the build and test of an open-air BTC-S37 rig, covering temperatures and HiveOS configuration, and the comparison of a closed case versus an open frame in terms of temperature and noise.

What about today?

Graphics card rigs like this one were mainly used to mine Ethereum. Since Ethereum moved to proof of stake on 15 September 2022, that kind of mining no longer exists and GPU mining income has collapsed: we no longer offer GPU mining rigs.
