Mining

Home miner

Also called: home mining rig, desktop miner

A home miner is a small miner designed for the home: quiet, low-power, plugged into a standard outlet and often used for solo mining.

A home miner is a small mining machine designed for use at home. Unlike industrial ASICs, which draw several kilowatts and make a lot of noise, it plugs into an ordinary outlet, stays quiet and fits on a desk or a shelf. Some models also double as a space heater or show information on a small screen.

Its computing power is modest, nowhere near that of large farms. In a regular pool, it would only bring in very small amounts. That is why many owners use it for solo mining: the machine tries to find an entire block on its own. Let's be clear, it is like a lottery. The probability of winning on each block is very low, but it is not zero, and a few individuals have already found a Bitcoin block this way.

When choosing one, look at the power consumption in watts, the noise level in decibels, the algorithm it mines and how easy it is to set up: a clear web interface or app saves a lot of hassle. A home miner is also a good way to discover mining and get to grips with pools and hashrate without investing in industrial hardware.

Our home miner collection brings together models suited to home use.
