Avalon Nano 3S 6 TH/s: the pocket-sized Bitcoin miner

The Canaan Avalon Nano 3S mines Bitcoin (SHA-256) at 6 TH/s for 140 W, in a case the size of a book. It is designed for the home: it is quiet and its warm airflow is welcome in winter. It is a simple way to take part in the Bitcoin network, solo or in a pool, without a technical room.

At 6 TH/s, the Nano 3S should not be seen as a source of income. Solo mining is a lottery: the chance of finding a block is very small, but if it happens you receive the full block reward. You can also point it at a pool to receive small, regular payouts, which are usually modest compared with the cost of electricity. Is it quiet enough for a living room?
Yes. At 33 to 40 dB it stays discreet in a living space. Just keep the back clear so the warm air can escape.

How does solo mining work, and what are my chances?
The Nano 3S searches for a Bitcoin block on its own. Compared with the hashrate of the global network, the chance of finding one is very small: it is a lottery. If a block is found, the whole reward is yours. Do not buy it expecting an income.

What power supply do I need?
Just a regular wall socket: the unit runs on a 110–250 V AC adapter that supplies it with 28 V DC. Its maximum draw of 140 W needs no special installation.

How do I set it up?
Connect it to Wi-Fi, then enter your pool and Bitcoin address in the Avalon Family app. Follow our Canaan Avalon series installation guide.
