Mining

ASIC

Also called: ASIC miner

An ASIC is a mining machine built around chips designed for a single algorithm, far faster and more efficient than a CPU or a graphics card.

ASIC stands for Application-Specific Integrated Circuit, a chip designed for one specific task. In mining, the word refers both to the chip and to the complete machine built around it: hashboards covered in chips, a control board, a power supply and a cooling system. Bitmain's Antminer, Whatsminer, Canaan's Avalon, IceRiver and Goldshell machines are all ASICs.

An ASIC chip can only do one thing: compute the hash function of a given algorithm as fast as possible while using as little energy as possible. This specialization gives it a huge lead over a graphics card, but there is a flip side: a SHA-256 ASIC will never mine Kaspa or Litecoin. Choosing a machine therefore means choosing an algorithm, and with it the cryptocurrencies you will be able to mine.

On a product page, look first at the algorithm, then the hashrate, the power consumption and the efficiency in J/TH or J/GH. Also check the cooling type (air, hydro or immersion), the noise level, the supply voltage and the plug type. A high-power air-cooled ASIC is very loud and gives off a lot of heat: it belongs in a technical room, not in a living room.

We sell ASICs from the leading brands, with our HappyMining firmware installed free of charge, and we handle after-sales service and repairs in France. If you don't have a suitable space, we can also host your machine for you.
