Electricity

Three-phase and single-phase

Single-phase (230 V) powers most homes; three-phase spreads power across three phases (400 V) and suits several miners.

In France, electricity reaches customers in two forms. Single-phase uses one phase and a neutral, at 230 V: this is the case for most homes. Three-phase uses three phases and a neutral: between a phase and the neutral you get 230 V, and between two phases, 400 V. It is found on farms, in workshops and businesses, and in some houses.

The difference matters as soon as power demand rises. On single-phase, all the consumption goes through a single phase, which limits the available power and calls for large cross-section cables. On three-phase, the power is spread across three phases: you can supply more machines, provided the loads are balanced. A Bitcoin ASIC usually plugs into 230 V between a phase and the neutral; with several machines, you spread them across the three phases. 24 kW hydro cabinets, such as the Antrack AR22, connect directly to 400 V three-phase.

Before buying, check your contract (subscribed power in kVA), the meter type and the condition of your electrical panel. A miner drawing several kilowatts needs a dedicated circuit, with the right cable cross-section and suitable protection. Beyond two machines, three-phase often becomes necessary. Always have the installation carried out or checked by a qualified electrician, in line with the applicable wiring standard, NF C 15-100 in France.

If you produce your own electricity or have underused power capacity, we work with you on the connection and the choice of machines, and we install anywhere in France.
