B950 mining motherboard: why the HM65 BTC 8 GPU is the simplest rig board
The HM65 BTC is a B950 motherboard made for GPU mining rigs: the Intel B950 processor and its cooler are already mounted, so you only add two sticks of DDR3, a storage drive and your graphics cards. There is no BIOS to configure, no PCIe setting to change — the board detects up to 8 GPUs out of the box, with one PCIe x16 slot and seven PCIe x1 slots for risers.
It is the board we use ourselves in our 6 and 8 GPU rig kits. Its micro-ATX size (21.1 × 16.8 cm) fits every open-air frame we sell, and the low-power B950 keeps the rig's idle consumption down.
FAQ
Does the B950 motherboard need BIOS settings for 8 GPUs?
No. The HM65 BTC ships with mining settings already applied: above-4G decoding and Gen1/Gen2 PCIe are preset, and all 8 slots are active.
Which RAM does the HM65 BTC use?
Two DDR3 DIMM slots (1066/1333 MHz). 4 GB is enough for HiveOS or Windows mining; 8 GB if you run more than 6 GPUs under Windows.
Which operating system should I use?
HiveOS, RaveOS or Windows 10/11. We ship it tested under HiveOS; the processor is a dual-core 2.1 GHz Intel B950, more than enough for mining.
Is it compatible with my graphics cards?
Yes, with any PCIe GPU (NVIDIA or AMD) via standard x1-to-x16 risers. The x16 slot takes one card directly.
