Blake3
Blake3 is a very fast hash function, used in particular by Alephium for its proof of work. It is mined with dedicated ASICs.
Blake3 is a cryptographic hash function published in 2020. It descends from Blake2, itself derived from Blake, one of the finalists in the competition that selected SHA-3. Its great strength is speed: it splits data into chunks processed in parallel, which makes it very efficient on modern processors as well as on dedicated chips.
In mining, Blake3 is best known as the algorithm of Alephium, a proof-of-work blockchain launched at the end of 2021 that spreads its transactions across several groups of chains, a technique known as sharding. Alephium presents its proof of work as more energy-efficient than that of conventional networks. As with Kaspa, it was first mined on graphics cards before dedicated ASICs arrived.
The hashrate of a Blake3 miner is expressed in GH/s or TH/s. Well-known models include the Antminer AL1 as well as machines from IceRiver and Goldshell. On the product page, look at the efficiency, the power consumption and the machine's form factor: some compact models are suitable for home use, while others need a sturdier electrical installation and a room where the noise is not a problem.
Our Alephium collection brings together the Blake3 miners we offer.
